Edward Hartigan 1906

On 7th August Hartigan, 58, in a drunken rage, attacked his wife with a hammer, inflicting 19 wounds on her. Catherine Hartigan’s body was body was found at their Stockport home, and Hartigan immediately confessed. They had three children. After his conviction his sister visited him in prison, and he asked her to settle a 5 shilling debt to a publican so he could die without that on his conscience.
