Tried for the murder of his wife Catherine, and their two daughters, Cecilia and Doris, Lock was defended by the eminent Edward Marshall Hall, but still found guilty.They lived in Birkenhead. He was prominent in the Chinese community in Liverpool, but there was some evidence that he had undergone a change of personality whilst being hit when breaking up a fight.
During a row he got the pistol he kept in his room and shot his family.
